Easy LearnKana ("the app") is designed with privacy in mind. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
The app does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not track your usage. All learning progress (which characters you've practiced, mastery streaks, settings) is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. None of this data is transmitted off the device.
When you tap "Say it!" to practice pronunciation, the app records a short audio clip of you saying the character. This recording is:
The audio recording is not stored, logged, or retained by the app, by our proxy, or by us. OpenAI's handling of API requests is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy) — note that requests made via the OpenAI API are not used to train OpenAI's models.
When the app plays a character's pronunciation, it requests synthesized speech audio from OpenAI's TTS service through the same proxy. These requests contain only the kana character to pronounce — no personal information. The returned audio is cached on your device so the same character does not need to be re-fetched.
The app communicates with:
No third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking frameworks are included in the app.
The app is suitable for all ages. It does not collect any personally identifiable information from any user, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
